Several years ago, my daughter's beloved father-in-law, Big T, crossed over. He was a big, funny, extroverted, Italian man whom we all loved and had spent a lot of time with over the years. His crossing, to us, was totally unexpected, and hit us all hard, especially my young son-in-law. Not too long after Big T left the physical, I had a very vivid dream of him. I was in a house looking into another room, and through the doorway, I could see him sitting at a table with his signature grin on his glowing face. I was so happy to see him! Behind him stood his still living brother, a man who, in the big Italian family way, was also very close to all his nieces and nephews and my daughter and her kids. The message I got from Big T was, I am doing great here, I am happy, don't worry about me! My brother is still with you, and he will take up where I left off, call on him if you need something.
I woke up, thrilled that Big T had come to me in a dream. I knew this was a real visit and I promptly passed on his message to his son and my daughter. That vision is one I can pull up anytime I want, it was that vivid.
When my brother crossed over 7 years ago, he came to visit my niece's good friend in a dream. The person he came to was not particularly spiritual nor a believer in things like this but it impressed him so much, he shared the details with my niece. In the dream, my brother, who in his physical life was a landscaper, was puttering around in a garden, pulling weeds and taking care of flowers. My niece's friend was walking by and saw him and asked him what he was doing. My brother's reply was that he liked it there and they let me stay here. My brother had passed after a long, painful bout of lung cancer, and the end was very rough. To me, he was recuperating there from his illness and the rather challenging life he had just led by tending to this garden and doing what he loved. It was a period of reintegration and healing for him in the afterlife. My niece was very comforted by the message when she heard about this dream.
My brother-in-law died ten years after a horrific car accident which left him with traumatic brain injuries and totally incapacitated. My sister-in-law took care of all his needs, day and night. He chose to leave via pneumonia one winter. Later that month, my mother-in-law saw her son-in-law in a dream, accompanied by her own mother and father who had long since crossed over, and all of them were smiling. It was his way of letting us know, I'm not alone, Grandpa and Grandma are with me, and I am well and whole now.
These kinds of dreams often make people wonder, why didn't my father/sister/mother/brother come to see me instead of you??
One big reason is that in the midst of grief, we tend to shut down and pull back inside ourselves. Messages from anyone, especially spirit, can't get through the dense energy of grief or denial or doubt or even anger, so those on the other side will choose someone else who's more open and not as close to the situation to receive their messages. In any way possible, they are trying to let their loved ones know, I made it. I have not left you. I am well and happy now.
